The Science of Dissolvable Amino Acid Technology

By Hana Tóthová, PhD Food Science — September 8, 2025

If you've ever tried to mix amino acid powder in a water bottle without a shaker ball, you know the problem: clumps floating on the surface, grit at the bottom, and a thin film of undissolved powder coating the inside of the bottle. It's not just annoying — it means you're not getting the full dose of amino acids you paid for.

Why Amino Acid Powders Clump

Amino acids are hygroscopic — they absorb moisture from the air. When powders absorb even a small amount of moisture, particles stick together, forming clumps that resist dissolution. Most supplement manufacturers add anti-caking agents like silicon dioxide or maltodextrin to combat this, but these additives don't fully solve the problem and can introduce their own issues: foam, aftertaste, and slower absorption.

The other factor is particle size. Standard amino acid powders have inconsistent particle sizes, which means smaller particles dissolve quickly while larger ones sit at the bottom. This is why you need a shaker ball — the physical force breaks apart the larger particles.

How Our Dissolvable Sticks Work

We took a different approach. Instead of adding more anti-caking agents, we focused on the formulation itself. Our dissolvable stick technology uses a precisely controlled particle size distribution — all amino acid particles are milled to a uniform size that dissolves at the same rate. No large particles to break apart, no grit at the bottom.

We also use a specific amino acid carrier matrix that enhances wettability. When a stick hits water, the carrier matrix allows water to penetrate the powder particles immediately, rather than sitting on the surface. This is why our sticks dissolve in about 10 seconds with just two stirs — no shaker bottle, no foam, no residue.

What This Means for Absorption

Dissolution is the first step in absorption. If your amino acid supplement doesn't fully dissolve, your body can't fully absorb it. Undissolved powder passes through your digestive system without being utilized. When you drink a fully dissolved amino acid solution, the amino acids are immediately available for absorption in the small intestine.

This is particularly important post-workout, when your muscles are primed for amino acid uptake. A fully dissolved supplement means faster delivery — and faster delivery means better recovery. Our RecoverMax BCAA sticks and EnduranceFuse EAA are both designed for this rapid-delivery window.

The Development Journey

Getting the formulation right took 18 months. We tested over 40 different carrier matrices before finding one that worked with all our amino acid blends without affecting taste or stability. Every iteration was tested for dissolution time, foam production, grit residue, and taste. The final formulation dissolves in under 10 seconds, produces zero foam, leaves zero grit, and has a clean taste with no aftertaste.

We also had to solve the packaging problem. Each stick is individually sealed in a moisture-proof wrapper that keeps the powder dry until the moment you use it. This is why our sticks have a shelf life of 24 months without any preservatives.

Try It Yourself

The best way to understand the difference is to try it. Drop one of our dissolvable sticks into 300ml of water, stir twice, and watch it dissolve. No shaker needed. If it doesn't dissolve cleanly, we'll refund you — that's our promise. Browse our full range on the products page.
